Trinity is a project for three single-family houses in the village of Bistritsa, at the foot of Vitosha Mountain, south of Sofia. The area is favored for its clean air, tranquility, and panoramic views of the city and mountains. Each house has two floors and its own pool, garage, and garden, and the three together form an ensemble with a recognizable common identity.
The main concept is based on clear volumetric logic and dialogue with the landscape. Each house is conceived as a rectangular prism—a clean "frame" that hangs over the more recessed ground floor level. The design explores contrast through pure geometry and strong lines: heavy and light, closed and open, solid and empty. The goal is a contemporary, restrained, and confident architectural identity that maintains powerful visual connections with the greenery and views. The repetition of the three volumes creates rhythm and harmony—a single architectural expression rather than three separate, unconnected buildings.
The concept is developed as a composition of clean orthogonal volumes with deep window openings. The upper floors are designed with bold cantilevers that frame the outside views. The large glazing brings in generous daylight, visually expands the interior, and connects the spaces with the natural environment, while the recessed frames preserve the feeling of privacy. The facades are clad with high-quality granite tiles, which emphasize the monolithic character of the architecture and ensure durability, easy maintenance, and an elegant texture. The restrained color palette accentuates the sculptural nature of the volumes and harmonizes with the natural tones of the site. High-end aluminum window systems are provided, chosen for their longevity, good thermal characteristics, and thin profiles, which allow maximum transparency without compromising energy efficiency.
Landscaping is a key element in the relationship between architecture and terrain - hedges, lawns, and precisely placed trees soften the geometry and integrate the houses naturally into their surroundings. The result is a coherent residential ensemble that balances individuality and unity and contributes positively to the environment through contemporary architectural language. Instead of competing with the landscape, the buildings frame and emphasize it. With its minimalist approach, clear volumetric logic, high-quality materials, and careful integration into the terrain, Trinity shows how strong architectural identity and sensitivity to the natural environment can coexist.
