Meander is an ancient geometric pattern constructed from a continuous line, which bends orthogonal in different directions and shapes a repeated motif. The abstract nature of the ornament creates a specific geometric accent. It symbolizes the laws of nature, its cyclicity and reproduction.
The name “meander” recalls the twisting and turning path of the Maeander River in Asia Minor. Meanders are also a common and often used decorative elements which date back to ancient Greek and Roman culture and have been used ever since.
Inspired by the strong meaning of the Meander we designed a distinguishable residential complex with clean and orthogonal geometrical form. The project consists of six one section residential building modules. We have positioned them so that all of the apartments have good geographic orientation. Only 18% of the facade walls are facing north.
We have created a contemporary architectural ensemble of six buildings, surrounded in a rich park environment with infrastructure planned with great detail. The dry fountain at the center of the composition corresponds with the initial idea of the unique nature phenomenon – the meander.
