"A place to call home" is a residential complex of row houses, configured in six modules on a stepped terrain at the foothill of the Vitosha Mountain, in the quarter of Boyana. The established community of 34 three-storey terraced houses, each with its own courtyard, brings individual character and authentic dynamism through changing facades. A sense of belonging and serene tranquility in an out-of-town environment is achieved through rich landscaping blending into the surrounding landscape. Large panoramic view windows are oriented to provide maximum visual connection to the mountains and distant cityscape.
The organic layering of the individual residential structures within the contours of the site is complemented by natural hues, matching as closely as possible the natural palette of the mountain foothills. The tall trees and the gradual terracing of the indoor park areas will continue to work over time to provide an invisible transition to the surrounding area.
Despite the individual differentiation of the individual family houses, the architectural impression is seen as a unified entity thanks to the integrated concept of building volumes and adjacent spaces. The façade design both emphasises and unifies the individual elements through clearly defined verticals in a logical sequence. However, the strict and refined geometry is elegantly refracted by the floating dynamism of the sliding louvres. The openwork panels made of wooden slats with sun protection function can be positioned and controlled freely with a manual rail slip along the entire length. This dynamic façade, tailored to the specific needs of the occupants at any given moment, creates an authentic look in a countless number of distinctive configurations. The same element is incorporated orthogonally on the ground level façade to define individual courtyard spaces.
The comfort of dwelling unites the two main focuses - convenient and functional spaces and high quality premium materials and construction ensuring hassle-free maintenance. The residential units are designed with aluminium windows with high thermal and acoustic insulation parameters. Breathable plasters and thermal insulation materials are used to withstand weather challenges.
For maximum effect and a feeling of an out of town green environment, the complex has no allocated surface parking. An added benefit is the electric car charging stations installed in the underground car park.
